This Vactor truck is essential to North Dade’s daily maintenance operations and is routinely used to remove sediment and debris from drainage structures along the state roadway system. The unit plays a critical role in maintaining drainage capacity in flood-prone and low-lying areas, including Miami Beach, where keeping stormwater systems clear is vital to preventing roadway flooding during heavy rain events. Without a fully operational Vactor unit, the department’s ability to maintain drainage infrastructure and respond to restricted drains would be significantly impacted. This description of commodities or contractual services intended for purchase from a single source is posted in accordance with section 287.057(3)(c), Florida Statutes and will remain posted for a period of at least 7 business days.
