The selected firm will be responsible for assessing site requirements, developing code-compliant design documents, securing necessary approvals, and supporting construction activities to ensure MBL’s facilities are prepared for zero-emission bus operations. This includes conducting detailed site assessments, coordinating with authorities having jurisdiction, developing design drawings and technical specifications, and providing construction-phase support to ensure safety, compliance, and operational readiness. The qualified firm will hold valuable expertise and experience to deliver a comprehensive approach that ensures the safe and effective maintenance of MBL’s new hydrogen-powered fleet. Qualitative factors include the consultant’s management plan, qualifications and experience of proposed personnel, technical approach, and demonstrated expertise in hydrogen or zero-emission transit facility design. MBL is particularly interested in firms that possess proven experience delivering facility conversions that meet regulatory requirements while providing measurable results on safety, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness. The City operates MBL to provide reliable and efficient public transportation services to the residents of Montebello and neighboring communities. As the third-largest municipal bus system in Los Angeles County, MBL proudly serves 2.6 million passengers a year throughout the communities of Alhambra, Bell Gardens, San Gabriel, Boyle Heights, Commerce, Downtown Los Angeles, East Los Angeles, La Mirada, Montebello, Monterey Park, Pico Rivera, Rosemead, South Gate, and Whittier.
