These tools are intended to systematically document findings into a robust resource to facilitate the efficient design and standardization of station elements and amenities for FAX's transit network. The primary goal of the Guidelines and Toolkit is to consolidate essential programmatic information necessary for the development of passenger facilities, encompassing everything from small local bus stops to major neighborhood centers. The foundation of the Transit Design Guidelines and Toolkit will be built upon NACTO standards, including lane configurations, stop locations, and bicycle interactions, customized to suit FAX's specific needs and operational context. The selected vendor will integrate existing FAX data and collaborate closely with the City of Fresno and Caltrans to ensure alignment with regional standards and requirements. Given Fresno's diverse weather conditions, including temperature extremes, particular emphasis will be placed on developing creative shading solutions. This will include exploring low-cost and temporary shading options that enhance passenger comfort and safety. The resulting document will serve as a comprehensive guidebook, providing clear and actionable guidelines for the design and implementation of transit facilities across the FAX fixed-route network. By establishing a standardized approach, FAX aims to streamline future development efforts, improve consistency in station design, and enhance the overall quality of transit services provided to the community.
