Tuckpoint and Retaining Wall, Cedar Rock State Park, Buchanan County

The state of Iowa and the Department of Natural Resources is fortunate to have Cedar Rock State Park in our park system. The park is home to the historically significant Frank Lloyd Wright designed Lowell and Agnes Walter Residence. The home is charmingly positioned on a limestone bluff overlooking the Wapsipinicon River, and is a beautiful example of Frank Lloyd Wright’s work. The DNR welcomes visitors from around the world to Cedar Rock State Park each year. The Department has a history of carefully and responsibly maintaining this property. The boathouse along the rivers edge was repaired and restored in 2016. The current project will address repairs needed to the property’s retaining walls. Masonry mortar joints will be tuckpointed and walls will be re-anchored and structurally stabilized. A small roof repair is also part of this project.
