DEP intends to enter into a Sole Source agreement with Pumping Services Inc., for PSI-1 for Franklin Miller Grinder Super Shredder. The Bureau of Wastewater Treatment (BWT), Hunts Point Wastewater Resource Recovery Facility (WRRF) currently have Franklin Miller grinder super shredders at its eight sludge thickener systems for grinding and shredding thickened sludge for the protection of the downstream in-line critical pumping equipment. The existing grinders have been in operation for many years, passed their useful life and need to be replaced with the new Franklin Miller grinders to keep the smooth operation of the sludge thickener systems. These specific grinders are necessary as the intake and outtake fittings must match the footprint currently in place.
